Tribute to Ignacy Jan Paderewski

On June 28 the Senate of the United States adopted a resolution commemorating the legacy of Ignacy Jan Paderewski on the 10 anniversary of the return of his remains to Poland.
A whole sequence of ceremonies dedicated to Ignacy Jan Paderewski found its culmination last summer. They were inaugurated in 2001, when the 60th anniversary of the Polish artist and patriot’s death was celebrated all over US. On that occasion President George W. Bush wrote in his commemorating letter: this great artist and statesman “left us with rich legacy of promoting freedom and democracy, the very ideals that link the United States and Poland”. During that time, shortly after September 11th, when those ideals – betrayed and threatened became an object of particular concern and reflection, at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium, a Polish premier orchestra Sinfonia Varsovia gave a concert in tribute to Ignacy Paderewski on the 60th anniversary of his death and to all those affected by the September 11th tmragedy.
This year’s events honoring the tenth Anniversary of the return of Ignacy Paderewski’s remains to Poland were crowned by the US Senate decision to adopt a resolution recognizing the accomplishments of Ignacy Jan Paderewski as a musician, composer, statesman, and philanthropist .
