The Washington visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland

2005, Adam Daniel Rotfeld, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland
visited the United States. The Minister met with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The
talks focused on bilateral relations and regional issues. The American administration
confirmed it’s commitment to the 100mln dollars support fund for the modernization of
the Polish armed forces. The Secretary of State informed also about the implementation of
the visa ,Road Map”. Among matters being prepared is the deletion of the Home
land Security Department data concerning Poles, who had committed immigration violations
prior to 1989 (One of the elements of the visa "Road Map" ).
Minister Adam Rotfeld met also the Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte and Richard Armitage, former Deputy Secretary of State. **** The Polish-American Strategic Dialogue was an important part of the visit. Representatives of the State Department and the Polish Foreign Ministry discussed regional policy, transatlantic relations, energy security and US-EU relations. Minister Adam Rotfeld met with the representatives of the academic and foreign policy communities at SAIS, Johns Hopkins University. The minister’s visit was extensively covered by American and Polish media. CNN International conducted a live interview with the minister. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Minister Adam Rotfeld held a join press conference at the Department of State. |
