Jan Nowak-Jezioranski Award
was presented to
President George H.W. Bush.

On May 13th, 2005 Rafał Dutkiewicz, the Mayor of the city of Wrocław, presented the Jan Nowak-Jezioranski Award to President George H.W. Bush at his residence in Kennebunkport, Maine. President George H.W. Bush received the award for his support in promoting freedom, democracy and the rule of law in Poland and other Central European countries. During his presidency Poland regained its sovereignty and became a partner and ally of the United States. President George H.W. Bush was a personal friend of Jan Nowak-Jeziorański.

The award, established in 2004, has been presented only for the second time. The first recipient was the former Prime Minister of Poland Tadeusz Mazowiecki.
