October 22-25th  2004 – the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Przemysław Grudziński participated in the commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the First Polish Settlement in America. The event took place in Texas. Among guests who participated were: former President of Poland- Lech Wałęsa, Texas Secretary of State  --Mr. Geoffrey S. Connor, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles -Mrs. Krystyna Tokarska-Biernacik, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Houston Zbigniew Wojciechowski, and the President of Polish- American Congress, Texas Division, Marian Kruzel.

Among many events that took place to commemorate the anniversary one should mention:

The address of the Ambassador P. Grudziński at the Rice University in Houston devoted t the ‘Transatlantic relations between EU and US and the role of Poland’ 

Concert of the Acadiana Symphonic Orchestra directed by Mariusz Smolija

Presentation of the Honorary Citizenship of Texas to the former President of Poland – Lech Wałęsa

Annual Conference of the Polish- American Congress, Texas Division

Holy Mass in Panna Maria celebrated by Bishop John Yanta

During a concert of the Acadiana Symphonic Orchestra the former President Lech Wałęsa (right) received honorary citizenship of the state of Texas, Wortham Center, Houston Texas.
