President Kwaśniewski
bids farewell to Colonel Hieronim Kupczyk

As a Commander-in-Chief, I bow to the fallen Polish officer. I salute the hero, who proved his loyaltyloyalty to honor and to his country!

Colonel Hieronim Kupczyk was a professional, he wore the uniform with pride. He went to south-central zone in Iraq controlled by Polish soldiers with profound belief that he fulfils a mission of utmost importance and gives evidence of responsibility and our Polish coresponsibility “for your freedom and ours”. He served the just cause. Polish soldiers are in Iraq to defend the supreme values: freedom and peace. They assist the Iraqis with regaining their own country after decades of tyranny, disdain, violence and infringement. They help the world by providing hope for stabilization, peace and development, they also serve their country and our securityhere and now.

We will continue this mission. We will fulfil our commitments. We are a credible, serious and predictable ally and partner. I strongly believe that thanks to people like Col. Hieronim Kupczyk, thanks to Polish soldiers and officers we will carry out the mission and return from Iraq as soon as it succeeds. ()
