Warsaw Filharmonic Orchestra

On February 13, during its American tour, the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by music director Kazimierz Kord performed at the Concert Hall of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. The hall was virtually full, and the performance was very warmly received by both, the audience and critics.

“The sheen of the upper strings, the earthly attack of the cellos, the rustic and characterful winds, the burnished brassall spoke the language of Western European orchestras, and conductor… drew highly disciplined, sensitively balanced playing from his musicians” (The Washington Post). The orchestra presented to the a repertoire consisting of the works by Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Wojciech Kilar - a contemporary Polish composer, enthusiastically applauded by the Washingtonian audience. g
