| There is no doubt that we are witnessing an unimaginable terrorist act which one could so far only read about in stories that were frequently considered exaggerated. What we have witnessed is no exaggeration and no fiction. It is happening before our eyes. It is unveiling before our eyes through television reports all over the world. The time is right to say that we sympathize with families and relatives of the victims, for there must be a great number of casualties. At the same time - and I would like to emphasize this as | the President of the Republic of Poland - we are fully sympathizing with the American nation, with the authorities of the United States, with President Bush, with respect to all activities which he will undertake to combat international terrorism. Such acts, such aggression, such violation of fundamental rights can never and nowhere be condoned. I would like to say it unequivocally on my own behalf and - I am convinced - on behalf of all my compatriots. |
