| Warsaw, October 4: U.S.
President George Bush in a telephone conversation with Polish President Aleksander
Kwaśniewski thanked Poland for its support in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist
attacks. Thanking Kwaśniewski for Poland’s solidarity with the United States and the
Polish population’s moving, spontaneous reactions to the tragic events of September 11,
Bush assured that the attacks on U.S. would not change U.S. policies he had outlined in
his speech in Warsaw nor plans to enlarge NATO. Kwaśniewski assured Bush of Poland’s
decided stand in the battle with terrorism and said Poland would support the U.S.
regardless of post-election changes in government. He also recalled his initiative of
calling a conference on terrorism in Warsaw. |
