August 11th 2009 From August 5th - 9th 2009, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Radosław Sikorski, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the USA Robert Kupiecki, paid a working visit to California. During his visit the Minister met politicians and university lecturers from the West Coast. In San Francisco, the Minister gave a lecture in the Word Affairs Council forum on the assumptions of Polish foreign policy. At Stanford University, the Minister decorated an eminent politologist, dr George Robert A. Conquest with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and dr John Raisian with the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland. The celebration was preceded by the Minister's speech honouring the eminent American politologists. The visit to Stanford University was an opportunity to talk eye to eye with the former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.  Minister Radosław Sikorski is decorating Dr George Robert A. Conquest with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.

At Stanford, Ambassador Robert Kupiecki handed the Amicus Poloniae prize to Richard Sousa, Director of Archives at the Hoover Institution, in recognition of his contribution for promoting Polish matters in the USA.

During the third day of the visit, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Minister Sikorski met politicians from the administration of the former US President, the library patron.
