In 1996 the Ambassador of Poland to the United States endowed the award "Amicus Poloniae" (Friend of Poland). This is award for American citizens who gained extraordinary accomplishments in development of Polish-American relations, and specifically, in popularization of Polish culture, science, and general promotion of Poland in America. These aspects are seen as extremely important in the cognitive process between two nations. Looking at the list of laureates, we may conclude that prestige of "Amicus Poloniae" award grows alongside with the number of outstanding names, which represent various groups and communities in the United States. The award includes the letter awarding with the title of "Amicus Poloniae" along with a commemorative plaque with an image of Polish White Eagle made out of polished brass. Below the eagle occurs the engraved label with the name of the awarded person and the title "Amicus Poloniae." All this is placed on a cherry wood plaque.
